    BIO is the world's largest biotechnology organization, providing advocacy, business development and communications service for more than 1,100 members worldwide.

    • Canadian Institute of Biotechnology
      "CIB is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to information dissemination and technology transfer across Canada and around the world. Site includes profiles on CIB members and descriptions of CIB projects."
    • Institute of Food Technologists
      Site includes publications, info on meetings, membership, jobs, etc.
    • International Food Information Council
      This site contains information about nutrition, food safety, additives, allergies, and food biotechnology.
    • National Academy of Sciences
      Site also houses the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council; includes a Career Planning Center, searchable member e-mail directory, and more.
    • National Center for Genome Resources
      This non-profit bioinformatics site includes a wide range of information on genetics for both researchers and laypersons.
    • National Science Teachers Association
      The NSTA strives to keep its members and the general public informed about trends and issues in science education. The association is dedicated to the improvement of science education at all levels -- preschool through college.
    • Society of Chemical Industry
      Includes information on meetings, publications, regional chapters, and awards.
    • Society for In Vitro Biology
      This site is dedicated to a wide range of disciplines that use cell and tissue cultures; pages include membership info, publications, career services, etc. Can be very slow to load.
    • Southern California Association of Marine Invertebrate Taxonomists
      Initially formed by taxonomists associated with southern California wastewater treatment programs, SCAMIT now claims members from coast to coast. The site includes a downloadable (2,400k PDF) taxonomic listing of soft bottom macro- and megainvertebrates, as well as links to other taxonomic tools and marine invertebrate sites.

      TBI is a non-profit organization which promotes the growth of biotechnology in the Toronto area. Site includes the quarterly BIOSCAN newsletters and information on various biotechnology topics.
