Sample analysis using the new LIZ500 5-dye system.

Fragment Analysis

DNA fragment analysis is performed on the ABI Prism 3730xl Analyzer, a capillary electrophoresis platform that provides users with more accurate size calling, and higher reproducibility than ever before. Our facility can analyze fragments from 50-1000bp in size from AFLP, T-RFLP and microsatellite markers.

ANALYSIS METHODS

Three size standards are currently available to analyze fragments. Size standards are provided by the Genotyping Unit and do not need to be purchased by the user.

SUBMISSION AND PRICING INFORMATION

Core Facility : $1.50/sample or $100/96-well plate. The Core Facility handles low-throughput (1-95 samples) and medium-throughput (1-11 96-well plates) projects. Please submit LT orders in 1.5mL tubes and MT orders in 96-well plates. To place an order, please go to: https://unicorn.biotec.uiuc.edu.  For additional information, please check out the Core Fragment Analysis FAQ page or contact Laura Guest at lguest@uiuc.edu or 217-333-9520.
(If you are an off campus customer, please complete the off-campus user form)

High-Throughput Facility : $76.80/96-well plate. The High-Throughput Facility handles projects of a minimum of 12 96-well plates in a 3-month period. Samples should be dried down and submitted in 96-well semi-skirted plates. Customers are encouraged to submit one test plate of serial dilutions to determine optimal loading concentration before beginning their project. A contract is required for High-Throughput Sequencing and Fragment Analysis. For more information, please contact Chris Wright at clwright@uiuc.edu or 217-333-4372.

GENEMAPPER™ VERSION 3.7 SOFTWARE

A hybrid of its predecessors, GeneScan® and Genotyper®, the new GeneMapper software offers users better tools for high-quality, automated allele calling and quality control.  GeneMapper™ software is made available to our users via a remote desktop connection.  To obtain access to this site, please fill out the GeneMapper Access Form and e-mail it to Keith Frazier, System Administrator, at frazier@UIUC.edu.  Access will be granted in 4-hour time blocks on a first-come, first-serve basis.  A GeneMapper tutorial is available at www.appliedbiosystems.com
