Research Interests
Current research is on plant, soil and environmental factors that determine the occurence, distribution, and nodulation capacity of the soil actinomycete Frankia in nature. Techniques employed include microbe trapping and molecular probes. Other research focuses on the ecophysiology of nitrogen fixation by actinorhizal plants. Research applications include the enhancement of nitrogen fixation and symbiotic vigor of actinorhizal plant associations important in forestry, range management, disturbed natural ecosystems, and in minespoil reclamation.
