   Research Interests

The laboratory focuses on mammary gland function and milk synthesis and secretion. Research centers on the regulation of mammary tissue development and function during pregnancy, lactation, and involution. Swine and cattle are the major animal models studied. Research uses biochemical, histological, molecular, in vitro, and functional genomics methods. Projects include characterization of lactation performance and mammary gland function of transgenic swine expressing genes in the mammary gland. In addition, projects are aimed at characterizing adult stem cells from mammary tissue and their role in mammary development.
